Devanand flays present generation directors

Popular Hindi artiste and evergreen glamour hero of Bollywood, Devanand, criticised the present generation films. Especially he drew flak over the remaking of films. He questioned how novelty could appear on the screen when the directors could not prepare subjects on their own. He says, 'Once noted Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh came to me and asked me as to how it would be if he remakes my film 'Guide' that was made somewhere during 1965. I immediately questioned him as to why he wanted to spoil a class film. The next moment he disappeared. Moreover, the present generation directors were using the heroine just as a glamour doll and they are making use of the heroines for dance sequences or to portray some romantic scenes in the film. This situation and system should change. They should be given due importance in the story and should have full length characters.'
