From the beginning actress Chitrangada Singh is being compared with Smita Patel. According to Shyam Benegal, "Yes, from some angles her face does have a striking resemblance to that of Smita's. But Smita was much more petite than Chitrangada." About the acting talent he adds, "It's Chitrangada's first film, so it's too early to say anything. Also, she didn't have much of a part. The two boys in the film were doing most of what was needed to be done. So one can't really comment on that. But I do wish her well. And I wish her luck."
