Jackie Shroff’s a changed man. At least his on-screen persona is. After beating the bad men to a pulp in his earlier avataar, this quintessential action man will be seen trying to reform them with words of wisdom and truth, as he gets set to play Sai Baba in Deepak Balaraj Vij’s directorial venture Malik Ek. As the dashing star prepares to step into the chappals of everyman’s saint, KT gets him talking on the role, his earlier performances, and son Tiger.
Drawing similarities between Baba and himself, Shroff adds that just the way Sai Baba believed in one God, he too believe in one God. He protected children and even he protects them. He was a fakir and even I am a fakir like him. Both of us love Sufi music. It’s a fantastic feeling to play this role.
As far as preparation for the role went, apart from losing 15kgs Shroff did not have much to do. Talking of characters, Shroff has not been seen in a lead role for quite some time now.
