Rakht (meaning blood) is Mahesh Manjrekar's biggest directorial attempt so far, both in terms of its mega-starcast and its magnanimous budget. Produced under the banner of Suniel Shetty's Popcorn Motion Pictures Pvt. Ltd. in association with brewery industry king Vijay Mallya, Rakht guarantees to be an intriguing masala movie. Based on the Hollywood film The Gift, Rakth is a supernatural thriller turned into a who-dun-it.

Natasha (Amrita Arora) a dynamic pop singer is much talked about girl in the town. She is known for her carefree living and flirtatious nature and is engaged to a Rahul (Sanjay Dutt) a school principal. One day Natasha reportedly goes missing without a clue, the police are searching but… it is in this moment of distress Rahul turns to Drishti (Bipasha Basu) for help.

Rhea's (Neha Dhupia) life is a living hell because of her highly volatile husband Sunny (Dino Morea). With a view to make things better Rhea turns towards Drishti for help.

Bipasha Basu: Bipasha plays the main protagonist Drishti. A tarot card reader, Drishti is also gifted with a vision of what's going to happen. She plays a young widow but is not a gloomy or a depressed character. She accepts that her husband is no more and takes charge of her life.

Sanjay Dutt: Sanjay Dutt plays a school principal, in search of his fiancée who has suddenly disappeared. Drishti helps her out. Dino Morea: Dino plays the central male character and the mystery revolves around him. He shares a rough relation with his wife. Neha Dhupia: Neha plays Dino's wife. Suniel Shetty: Sunil Shetty plays Mohit, a crazy mechanic who has a soft corner for Drishti. Amrita Arora: Amrita plays a mayor's daughter who is a pop singer. Abhishek Bachchan: Abhishek is the latest addition to the starcast of Rakht. He features in a foot-tapping dance number, which is the Hindi version of the British sensation Blue's hit One Love sung by Shaan.
