Khakee

With Khakee, Santoshi attempts to focus on the functioning of the police force system not showing them in a completely negative outlook. The elaborate tagline of the film reads something like this...

"Our enemy is nameless and faceless. We don't know their numbers except that they are sure to be many. We don't know their weapons except that they are sure to be more sophisticated than ours. We don't know when, where and how they will attack except that they will attack for sure. All we know is that they are desperate, and willing to do anything, go to any extreme."

D.C.P Anant Srivastav (Amitabh Bachchan) best known as 'The Professor' has been assigned the most difficult assignment of his lifetime to warden a formidable ISI agent and a terrorist Iqbal Ansari (Ajay Devgan) to Mumbai from Chandargadh. The earlier mission to get this man Iqbal failed but 'The Professor' can't afford to fail, as this is his only chance to prove his efficiency to the department and to himself. To help him execute this mission he is armed with two cops Senior Inspector Shekhar Sachdev (Akshay Kumar) and Sub Inspector Ashwini Gupte (Tusshar Kapoor) along with two constables.

Shekhar is corrupt having washed himself of his virtues long back, he has reluctantly agreed to be a part to this deadly endeavor. Ashwini on the other hand is upright and filled with the zeal of doing something, little does he know that all his noble intentions have a meek chance of survival. The three accompany Iqbal Ansari who is an eyewitness to an important case but there is someone who will not let them reach their goal. The unseen enemy is very shrewd, well unformed and always a step ahead.. Will these Khakee clans prove their worth to don the uniform?

The film also stars Aishwarya Rai, Tusshar Kapoor and Tanuja in pivotal roles. Jaya Prada puts in an appearance alongside Big B after a long hiatus. And continuing his penchant for item numbers, Santoshi has roped in Lara Dutta this time around who sizzles in the "Aisa Jadoo" track that is already topping the music charts. Debutante Ram Sampat has composed the music while Sameer has penned lyrics for the film.

The film is scheduled to release on 23rd Jan 2004.
