Madhuri Dixit? Who doesn't want to be like Madhuri Dixit? Between the 100-watt smile which she's so famous for, and her exquisite dance moves, she's the envy of many young girls today. It just so happens that there's a new film which address just this idea. Ram Gopal Varma and his protégé, Antara Mali have put it together, and it's appropriately called, 'Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon'. Or in english, I want to be like Madhuri Dixit. In reality, Antara has looked forward to this day for a long time. She has been a great admiring fan of Madhuri's, and has done everything she can to become like her. Even in the film Antara wore no makeup and old non-stylish clothes in order to portray this star-struck village girl who dreams of becoming just like her idol.
The film's story takes us to the little village of Gajrola, where a girl named Chutki (Antara Mali) dreams of becoming like her favorite Bollywood star, Madhuri Dixit. She reenacts scenes, capturing her essence, thus leaving the villagers enthralled. So much so that she becomes Gajrola ki Madhuri. She also manages to, without being aware of it, capture the heart of her best friend Raja (Rajpal Yadav). And although he loves her just the way she is, he knows her dream is to go to Mumbai and become a star. So what does her secret lover do for her? He arranges for a marriage of convenience and a move to Mumbai so Chutki can start to realize her dreams. Of course to Chutki her best friend had just become her greatest friend. Unfortunately for Raja, that's what he remains to her, a friend, despite this act of love. He watches in pain as Chutki struggles to make it in the industry and yet could end up only becoming a star look-a-like.
Will Chutki's dreams of becoming Madhuri eventually come true? Will Raja's dreams of finding his way into Chutki's heart and becoming more than her friend ever happen?
Look for its 10th October release.
