Home Delivery

Boman Irani a.k.a Michael Burnett
51 year old Michael is a simple minded man, almost childlike and has recently landed job as a pizza delivery boy at Mummy's Pizza. Given Michael's age and intelligence, the pizza house manager's immediate reaction is to reject him, but since its Diwali, the manager decides to keep him for a day. Michael is overwhelmed at getting the job. He cann't wait to tell his wife Rama about his job. Michael has sort of an inclination to lose every job he has ever had in 2 days flat. This time, however, he vows to keep this one no matter what. He diligently reads up the ?Delivery Boys Handbook' and is almost moved to tears with happiness when he is given the pizza house uniform to wear. ?even though it is a size small.

Vivek Oberoi a.k.a. Sunny Chopra
Sunny is 28 year old bratty writer who believes he is a self made man and that whatever he has achieved in life is due to his own hard work. He has carved a niche for himself in the literary world (or so he believes) as a popular agony uncle who goes by the name of Gyan Guru . He has also managed to bag a prestigious screenplay writing project for the most happening film director, Karan Johar. Sunny is a cynic, who feels that everyone around him loves him because of what he has achieved and not because of who he is, including his own dad. Quite the prankster, Sunny enjoys pulling the wool over everyone's eyes, his favorite prank being to convince pizza delivery boys that they are late and hence not paying for the pizza. His funda in life ? Convince or Be Convinced!

Mahima Choudhary a.k.a Maya
The sultry Maya used to be every teenagers pin-up girl in her hey-day. More importantly she used to be Sunny's poster girl, his ultimate fantasy. But since her prime is over, she moved down South to explore greener pastures. But the lure of Bollywood is too much for Maya to resist. She wants to make a comeback into Bollywood. That is when she meets Sunny, a writer who has bagged a prestigious screenplay writing project for the most happening film director, Karan Johar. Maya looks at this as a golden opportunity and decides that she will go all the way to get a role in this film.

Ayesha Takia a.k.a Jenny
Jenny, Sunny's fiancée, is a humble human being who believes in God and is grateful for what she has in life. She loves her family and more than anything else, she loves Sunny. Just as Sunny is pessimistic about life in general, Jenny is optimistic about the future. Since its Diwali, Jenny has organized a family dinner in her parent's house and constantly reminds Sunny to keep himself free that evening. The dinner is also special because they are planning to tell their parents about their decision to get married.

The problems with HOME DELIVERY are manifold. But the biggest of all is its sloppy screenplay. There's no movement in the story and to make matters worse, the screenplay is as unexciting as having a month-old pizza. If the effort is to make the viewers laugh, the entire exercise is in futility since there's not one memorable sequence that even makes you flex your facial muscles. In fact, the viewer starts squirming after the first fifteen minutes itself.

Sujoy's direction is, to put it mildly, dismal and directionless. Cinematography [Sirsha Ray] is the sole department that stands out in the enterprise. The camerawork is of superior quality, with the visual effects looking attractive. Boman Irani does a great job of essaying the role of a simpleton who can't keep a job, takes everyone's words literally, and yet displays occasional flashes of wisdom.

Music director duo Vishal-Shekhar has done a good job on the soundtrack, which is funky and upbeat. The film also has some funny moments.
