There is no irritating sight for an avid Hindi film viewer than of Sunny Deol dancing with his two left feet or even Tabu pirouetting sexily in chiffon saris! But what to do, Guddu Dhanoa wants his film's protagonist Ajay Kaul (Sunny) to be a pop singer which means he also had to dance to some Aadesh Shrivastava Punjab da puttar number in sleeveless jacket! Next, he has to look lovelorn like a hopeless Romeo waiting for Neha Pandit (Tabu) who can't seem to take care neither of her dupatta nor umbrella. After a couple of excruciating scenes, Ajay realises Neha can't reciprocate his love because she is a widow. Worse, her father-in-law (Anupam Kher) won't let her marry Ajay. But he finally comes around when Ajay maaroes the typical Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge line 'Babuji aap jab tak uska haath mere haathon mein nahin dete main usse shaadi nahin karunga!'.
Major Kaul(Amrish Puri) and his men rescues Anita(Reema Sen) from militants in New Zealand. All militants are killed in the operation. Major Kaul visits India for his daughter's wedding. Ajay(Sunny Deol) son of Major Kaul is in love with Neha(Tabu) who is a teacher by profession and a widow. The fact that Neha is a widow doesn't stop Ajay from loving Neha. Major Kaul expresses his wish about wanting Ajay to work with him in New Zealand. But Ajay doesn't doesn't want to leave Shimla and Neha.
Neha's father-in-law(Anupam Kher) agrees for the marriage between Neha and Ajay, after intial resistance. Story takes a turn with the kidnap of Neha by the same militants who kidnapped Anita. Their leader (Mukesh Rishi) wants Ajay to go to New Zealand and kidnap Anita and hand her over to them for the release of Neha.
Mad in love, Ajay takes off to New Zealand. Major Kaul was excited seeing his son and hearing that Ajay wants to work with him. Anita falls in love with Ajay. But Neha is in Ajay's heart and waits for an oppurtunity to kidnap Anita. Opportunity comes when Anita's father comes to New Zealand with a young man and wants Anita to marry him.
Anita request Ajay to take her away to India. Seizing the opportunity, Ajay runs to India with Anita. On rfeaching India Ajay hands Anita over to the militants and wants Neha back. But he is cheated by the militants, beaten and thrown down in the river. Now the militants want their leader (Ashish Vidyarthi) to be released by the Government of India in exchange of Anita or they will kill her. The Government refuses to surrender. Now Ajay is worried for the life of Anita too.
The first half makes you wonder why Tabu did this film, the second half provides you with some answers. Rima is good in the emotional scenes while Sunny when he's not shaking his hip awkwardly, does his maar dhaad act with élan. Anand Raj Anand's music doesn't give any anand to our ears. Shripad Natur'a cinematography and Tinu Verma's action scenes (especially the beginning ski chase and the train one in the climax) are other high points of this otherwise average film.
