Shashanka Ghosh's Waisa Bhi Hota Hai is about a copywriter who gets involved in the underworld when he saves the life of a don.
Puneet (Arshad Warsi) is employed with an ad agency as a copywriter and leads a perfect life. He has a steady girl friend in Agni (Sandhya Mridul), who is a cop. All hell breaks loose when Puneet learns that his brother who was involved with the underworld has been killed.
Waisa Bhi Hota Hai is a film that cannot be put in one single genre. On one hand, we think that the film is a comedy. On the other hand, the film has dealt with some serious issues, like the underworld. Also, we think that the film is predictable but what happens next is completely unpredictable. The film starts of on a lighter note and picks up once Arshad Warsi saves Prashant.
On the performance front, Arshad Warsi is brilliant in his comic timings. He leaves a lasting impression with the film. Prashant is satisfactory but could have had different expressions in different scenes. Sandhya Mridul looks ravishing and is pretty impressive. Suchitra Pillai leaves an impact in her small role. Anant Jog is okay. Pratima Kazi disappoints. Mahima Choudhary in a cameo leaves her mark. The group of sardars and the bandya gang pass muster. The Barista trio of Ranvir and a couple of others blend well with the narrative.
The music by Vishal-Shekhar is excellent. Most of the songs, including Allah ke bande, are already on the charts.
Arshad Warsi is efficient, slipping into his character effortlessly and displaying the various emotions with ease. Prashant Narayanan is first-rate. Here's an actor who deserves to be picked up by good directors.
WAISA BHI HOTA HAI - PART II is a good attempt from a first-timer, but the treatment of the film is such, it caters to a niche audience – the multiplex-going cinegoers.
